The Oil Rig Stronghold remains one of the premier late-game activities for farming Legendary Schematics and Ancient Technology Core fragments.
Since the Deep Sea Update (late 2025), the difficulty has scaled up. The Laser Syndicate now employs level 60 turrets and advanced AI pathing.
Overview of the Stronghold
- Location: Southeast Ocean (Coordinates: 550, -450)
- Enemy Level: 55–60 Elite
- Key Loot: Legendary Weapon Schematics (Laser Rifle, Rocket Launcher II), Tier 5 Accessories.
- Refresh Timer: 30 minutes (real time)
How to safely approach (2026 update)
Flying directly in is suicide unless you have a Jetragon with "Stealth Flight" (a passive added in v1.5).
The reliable method:
- Approach via underwater mount: Azurobe or Jormuntide can swim under the radar.
- Grapple Hook entry: Once close, grapple up the side pillars to avoid the main turret line of sight.
- Disable the generator: Located in the central control room (see map above). This disables the outer laser turrets for 5 minutes.
Key loot locations
There are usually 4 main chests on the rig:
- The Helipad Chest (Gold): Often guarded by a Crusher heavy unit.
- The Cargo Bay Chest (Purple): Hidden behind containers on the lower deck.
- The Central Command Chest (Big Gold): Inside the main building, usually requires killing the commander.
- The Underwater Cache: New in 2026 update - Look for bubbles near the rig's support legs.
Warning: The chests are trapped. Bring a Trap Disarm Kit (crafted at workbench level 50).
Recommended loadouts
- Weapon: Rocket Launcher (for AoE clearing grouped enemies) + Laser Rifle (for sniping turrets)
- Armor: Pal Metal Armor (Cold/Heat Resistant depending on time of day)
- Essential Pals:
- Galeclaw: For mobility/gliding between platforms.
- Lyleen: For massive AoE healing during intense firefights.
- Orserk: Deals double damage to water/electric enemies commonly found on the rig.
