Palworld v1.1 Preview — What's Coming, Release Window, and the 'Highly Requested Feature' (Oct 2026 status)

Palworld v1.1 is confirmed in development, with a 'big specific feature' teased at Gamescom 2026 and explicit confirmation it won't be a yearlong development cycle. Here's what Pocketpair has said, when it's likely to drop, and what we can rule in and out.

Pocketpair has confirmed Palworld v1.1 is in development but has not announced a release date, scope, or feature list. This page tracks what's been said publicly, what's been explicitly ruled out, and what the realistic window looks like — updated in place as information drops, so this URL stays the definitive coverage. What's confirmed

v1.1 exists and is being worked on. John "Bucky" Buckley, Pocketpair's publishing lead, confirmed this on multiple occasions since the v1.0 launch on July 10, 2026.

v1.1 includes a "big specific feature" players have been requesting for a while. Buckley teased this at Gamescom 2026 without specifying what it is. The community has been speculating heavily — common guesses include:

  • Server clustering (already shipped partially in 1.0 but still rough)
  • A proper mod API (replacing the UE4SS workaround — see our mods hub)
  • Guild / faction system for shared bases
  • Pal rebalancing pass tied to the 1.0 Awakening system
  • A new region (though Buckley explicitly ruled out "a new continent" — see below)

None of these are confirmed. Pocketpair hasn't dropped a hint beyond "big specific feature."

What's been explicitly ruled out

Buckley also made clear what v1.1 isn't:

  • Not a yearlong development cycle. v1.1 is explicitly smaller than the two-year 1.0 push. Expect it in months, not years.
  • Not a new continent. No expansion-sized map addition. The World Tree remains the endgame region through 1.1.
  • Not "add 20 more levels." The level cap of 80 stays. No sweeping progression overhaul.
  • Not a massive content drop. Pocketpair framed 1.1 as a focused update, not a Feybreak-scale ("every system changes") patch.

That rules out most of the biggest speculation. v1.1 is a focused patch with a flagship feature + supporting polish, not a content explosion.

Realistic release window

Based on Buckley's "not a yearlong development" comment and Pocketpair's post-1.0 cadence (v1.0.3 in August, v1.0.4 in September, v1.0.5 in September):

  • Earliest plausible: late 2026 (November–December) — would align with a holiday-season drop, matching their Halloween + winter event history
  • Most likely: Q1 2027 (January–March) — gives the team time for the "big feature" without rushing
  • Latest plausible: Q2 2027 (April–June) — hard ceiling based on the "not a year" comment, since 1.0 shipped July 10, 2026

Our best guess: February–March 2027. Early enough to meet Buckley's "not a year" commitment with margin, late enough to properly ship a flagship feature.

What to prep now

If you want to be ready:

  1. Hold off on major base rebuilds if you were considering them — a 1.1 patch could introduce new building tech, Pal rebalances, or system changes that affect endgame optimization
  2. Finish 1.0 endgame content first — the World Tree, Zenara & Astralym, Awakening, Palworld Implants — these are the stable endgame foundation 1.1 will build on, not replace
  3. Keep your save intact — Pocketpair has preserved save compatibility across every patch since Early Access; 1.1 almost certainly continues this
  4. Consider which Legendaries to Awaken now vs. wait — if 1.1 adds new Awakening tiers or changes the system, Awakened Pals keep their status but new systems may favor specific types

What won't change (safe bets)

  • Core gameplay loop (Pal catching, breeding, base management, combat)
  • Save file compatibility
  • Server hosting mechanics (your dedicated server from the hosting comparison keeps working)
  • Mod compatibility is likely to break — UE4SS mods typically need updating on major patches (see mods hub)

What we'll do when the patch drops

Within hours of the official announcement:

  • Rewrite this page from "preview" to "confirmed coverage" with exact patch number, feature breakdown, and release date
  • Publish a separate dated patch-notes entry for v1.1
  • Update affected guides (Meta Picks, Breeding Guide, Awakening, World Tree) with v1.1 callouts
  • Flag anything that invalidates existing content so returning readers aren't acting on stale info
